Who we are
It all started when five college students joined together at Western Michigan University’s Haworth College of Business to put their dream of starting their own restaurant in Kalamazoo into action.
K-Corner Deli is more than just a place to grab lunch in between meetings or order a to-go sandwich, it’s a direct nod to the busy world of being a business student at WMU.
Ruby, Ty, Katherine, Madison, and Colby came together in a class and bonded over the shared struggles of finding the time to take care of themselves. Being a college student nowadays means more than just going to class – it means having a job (sometimes two!), taking care of family members, supporting those around you, and still having homework due each day.
It can be a struggle to find delicious food that fuels you and your brain, with a timeline that matches what you need, and the five bonded over this stress. As they looked more into what their lives would look like post-graduation, they realized that this problem wasn’t going away.
Many of the options that were available to young professionals in Kalamazoo, the area they were directly looking at, were either unhealthy, sit-down options, or simply out of budget. There wasn’t something that fit all their needs.
So, they decided to do something about it.
The five young college students dreamed up K-Corner Deli, a place to get delicious food that doesn’t force you to sacrifice your time, health, or wallet. It’s the perfect combination of deliciousness and speed that these young’ns needed and is perfect for young professionals looking for lunch between meetings or events, or for that one intern who doesn’t really know where to order lunch for the office from.
